Ethan struck me as very childish--to the point where I felt that it was almost pedophilia. I put the book down after the bit about HIS MOTHER having to teach him not to masturbate anywhere but the bathroom. That's something you might have to teach a seven year old who has just discovered his penis, not an adult fully capable to deciding how to handle his own sexuality. It just struck me as really gross and I couldn't read the book after that.
